The MCFRS EMT Student, while working directly with a FTC, performs a complete inventory of an EMS unit, both inside and outside compartments as well as all patient side equipment. The EMT Student will work with the FTC and/or EMS Unit driver to learn the mechanical check out of the unit as well.
The MCFRS EMT Student may work with a MCFRS Paramedic or EMT FTC to learn how to assist the ALS provider with the ALS specific equipment. This orientation does not allow the EMT Student to perform any ALS care as definded in the maryland Medical Protocols.
The MCFRS EMT Student, while working diretcly with a FTC, will perform a complete patient assessment and document, via the eMeds Elite Student account, a complete report. The report must include a written narrative (not auto generated) of the incident and actions and findings by the "Student" ONLY. This report will not include the patient's actual name or SS#. This report will not serve as the actual EMS Patient Care report and wil only serve as a function of the EMS Internship requirement.
